I moved to Mobile in 1990 and started attending USA in the Fine Arts/Visual Arts curriculum. I also secured a job as overnight DJ at WZEW-FM, better known as 92ZEW.
While I was working at 92ZEW, I developed
the comic strip which would evolve into Leap of Faith.
At this time, it was called Behind Bars, and was
a Life in Hell-style strip. Over the years, the characters
of Rod and Faith would develop stronger personalities.
One of the people
I worked with at 92ZEW left to be the sales manager for Mobile
Bay Monthly. They needed a graphic designer, so he called
me. I worked there for six months, then took a job at the
Andalusia Star-News as ad composer. I later drew editorial
cartoons, laid out the paper, even did a little reporting.
In 1996, my wife and I moved back to Mobile
so I could work at XANTE. I eventually was the web designer
there, where I developed the first site for the company. I
was laid off in 1997.
After another stint at 92ZEW, I got a job
as a computer animator at Lockheed-Martin in Pensacola. After
a year of commuting between Pensacola and Mobile, and encountering
a cow spill on the interstate, I found a job as a web designer
at Televox. While there, I designed and created about 15-20
web sites for orthodontists. I also developed a Flash-based
crossword puzzle and a brace band color picker.
In 2001, I was hired by Integrity Music,
where I work today.
